Privacy policy

Information you give us

If you subscribe to the newsletter, we store your email address, the time you gave consent and your subscription status. If you use the contact form, we store your name, email address and message so we can reply. We use this information only for those purposes.

Information stored in your browser

Your theme preference, your cookie choice and your saved articles are stored in your browser’s local storage. This data stays on your device and is not sent to us. You can clear it at any time in your browser settings.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how readers use the site: which pages are read, how visitors arrive (for example from a search engine), and general device, browser and approximate location information. Google Analytics uses first-party cookies (named _ga and _ga_*) and does not give us your name or email address. We use these reports only in aggregate to decide what to write and to improve the site.

Google processes this data under its own privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy). You can also install Google’s opt-out browser add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout).

Cookies and your choices

Strictly necessary storage (your theme, saved articles and cookie choice) is always used because the site needs it to remember your settings. Analytics cookies are optional.

In the United States and most other regions, analytics cookies are on by default and a banner on your first visit lets you decline them. You can change your choice at any time with the "Cookie settings" link in the footer. If you decline, we send Google only cookieless, anonymous signals.

If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, analytics cookies stay off until you give consent through a Google-certified consent message, and you can change your choices at any time from the privacy link that message provides. We use Google Consent Mode so Google’s tags respect your choice.

Your rights in US states

Residents of certain US states, including California, have rights to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion or correction, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. To opt out, choose Decline in the cookie banner or under "Cookie settings" in the footer. We also treat a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal from your browser as an opt-out. For other requests, email us at the address below. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

Service providers

The site is hosted by Vercel. Article content and form submissions are stored in Supabase (PostgreSQL). Images are served from Cloudflare R2. Newsletter subscriptions and contact-form notifications are handled by Brevo. Analytics is provided by Google Analytics. These providers process data on our behalf and may keep standard server logs, such as IP address and browser type, for security and reliability.

Children

LearnWithBytes is a general-audience site and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Retention and security

We keep newsletter data until you unsubscribe and contact messages for as long as needed to respond and keep a reasonable record. We use encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls to protect stored data.
